Additional Information on the Sri Lanka ETA

In January 2012, the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka introduced the ETA system to allow citizens of certain nationalities to apply online for an ETA to enter Sri Lanka.

Travellers are required to fill in the form and make a payment online. The application is internally reviewed and processed. The approved ETA is sent by email to the traveller as soon as it is approved.

ETA on Arrival

ETA applications upon arrival are only available in emergency cases and in a limited number of airports.

Foreign travellers should be aware that waiting times of more than two hours should be expected. Travellers entering Sri Lanka during peak holiday season should expect longer waiting times at immigration.

It is strongly recommended to obtain a valid ETA prior to travelling to Sri Lanka.
